I’m sure we could go on and on, but I will tell you one thing for sure, Sydney is home to a passionate mountain bike community! Just take a look at the absolute spiderweb that appears when you open Trailforks and it’s easy to see why.Before we get into our favourite spots, we should note that we do our best not to promote unsanctioned trails, and even within some well-known, established trail networks, there are community-built trails. Regardless of their reputation, popularity or presence on Trailforks, we can’t actively shine the spotlight on them.Mill Creek is an excellent example of how community-built trails can be formalised for the benefit of everyone in the area — though it hasn’t come without plenty of hard work! They even held a mountain bike festival at the end of 2024, the Grays Point MTB Festival, including an XC race and jump jam, with plans for a repeat in 2025.

December 14th 2024 marked the final trail care day which would be led by Mill Creek Trail Association Inc (MCTA Inc) Director, Dan Greenwood at the Mill Creek Mountain Bike Trail network.Mr Greenwood, from Yarrawarrah, following his return to Australia from overseas work in Mountain Bike Trail construction over 10 years ago, joined the Mountain Bike community in LucasHeights in establishing together with Sutherland Shire Council, the Mill Creek trail network within the Lucas Heights Conservation Area.
