We have a single individual membership category for those aged 16 years and over and another category for those that wish to join as an organisation. The fee is the same for both membership types.
Many of our members, and the now board of MCTA Inc, have been volunteering their time to represent the MTB Community in various advocacy spaces as MTB’ing has grown in the Sutherland Shire for well over 10 years, as well as donating their time and effort to rehabilitate trails and their surrounding environments, most notably within the Lucas Heights Conservation Area (LHCA) where Mill Creek MTB Trails are located.
Arguably, the catalysing event for the group dates back to 2011 when informal access to trails opposite ANSTO at Lucas Heights, was removed by the land manager. Community led efforts since that day have led to formalised trails and access in the nearby LHCA, including large scale fundraising and construction of renowned trails such as Hit The Turps, alongside countless hours of maintenance in the form of volunteer labour.
Those same efforts, to improve MTB facilities and access, and hence grow MTB participation, now continue under a formalised ‘incorporated’ banner since 2021.
We don’t want to collect large membership fees unnecessarily, only to leave members wondering if their fee has been money well spent.
We’ve chosen to adopt a financial model where members (or anyone) can contribute to specific larger projects as much or as little as they wish. Previous projects, like Hit The Turps, were largely crowd funded and we intend similar projects to be supported and delivered in the same way.
Your small initial contribution will help to cover the minimal running costs of the club, and fund smaller maintenance based projects that might be otherwise difficult to crowd fund for.
Yes absolutely! You can donate either via Trail Forks Karma or PayPal
